Calibri font disappears
Bierstadt? Grandview? Seaford? Skeena? Tenorite? A new vacation destination? No, these are Microsoft's five new fonts.
It's time for a change, according to Microsoft. The almost inescapable Calibri font has been one of the standard fonts since 2007. This font has served us faithfully for 15 years, yet Microsoft thinks it's time for a change.
Of the five new ones, one will eventually become the new standard. The remaining four will still be available in the font menu, including Calibri.
Branding and font
Perhaps you also use a standard font within your company. This too has to do with your branding. A standard font often gives a first impression.
It is a visual identity that we present to others through such things as: an email, quotes or reports. The use of a typeface is a critical part of your visual identity. It gives personality and sets the context. When choosing a font, it's not just about the right one. Consider its color and size, for example. Each element affects your branding. Perhaps you also use the Calibri font.
No more standard
Now that this will soon no longer be a standard, it is important to revisit your settings or consider whether another font is appropriate.
Branding is the experience customers have with your company. Customers see your e-mail or website and get a certain experience with it. When using an inappropriate font, your company can create the wrong image for the customer. Using the right font can increase interest, build trust and give the right feeling. All critical points for successful branding that should definitely not be underestimated.

What about in your business?
For example, what font do you use when sending an email? Does it reflect the feeling you want to portray as a company? And do you use it only for e-mail or also elsewhere? Definitely good to think about. In any case, Microsoft has added some extra fonts that you should definitely try out. In a few months, Microsoft will evaluate these five with feedback from you, the user. Which one are you going to try out?
