Social media crash course

Last month we, Raymond and Laureth, had some fantastically fun, enjoyable and most importantly, educational evening courses. I can hear you thinking, a course?

Yes! AlienTrick and Stichting Centrummanagement Hengelo (SCH) have joined forces and together we have rigged and offered a quick-course in Social media & Online marketing for all Hengelo center entrepreneurs. A course full of knowledge sharing, tips & tricks!

The Smart Course

A course consisting of four sessions, where you come to know all kinds of things about social media as a business user. The sessions were hands-on and hands-on for all participants. They were inspired with online marketing knowledge, social media tips & tricks and how to get to know their target audience even better, among other things. Sessions specific to the business in order to get noticed (even) better online!

Due to the Covid-19 measures, we split the sessions into 2 groups, with a small number of participants. Something we could easily facilitate within AlienTrick

Dynamic online world

When you say "social media" and "search engine marketing," everyone often knows roughly what you mean. But what exactly does it entail? And how do you best use it for your business? We understand better than anyone that you can be faced with a lot in this dynamic online world. Where to start and what do you need to know before you start? Especially in these turbulent times The Smart Course, for the majority of entrepreneurs, came in handy!

Our goal

Our goal is to help entrepreneurs get started! We don't just tell and send a lot of information, but keep asking until the participant knows the answer to questions like: Do you really know your target group? When is the best time for your company to post? Are you speaking the language (tone of voice) that inspires your target group? After all, entrepreneurs know their business best! There were beautiful, open conversations with us and with the participants themselves.

First things first

First, we started with the basics of SEO, SEA and social media. For many, this was really an eye-opener at times! Beforehand, we carried out a baseline measurement and channel statistics check per company, so that the participants could actually work with their own channels during the session. From there, we addressed questions such as; are all your social media channels really up-to-date? Do they meet THE online branding checklist? Are you posting the right content for your target audience?

Learning by doing

In addition to giving home assignments, there were also differences during the sessions, such as:

  • Quick wins for your online marketing
  • To-do: online branding checklist
  • How-to: setting up and managing the content calendar

The sessions consist of:

  • Why, when and how do you deploy social media, SEO and SEA marketing?
  • What is content mapping and how do I use it for social media marketing?
  • How do I determine the content/message based on the customer journey?
  • How do I read my own Google Analytics?

Customer journey

We also walked the entrepreneurs through a customer journey, or customer journey. It is important to be able to determine how your target audience interacts with your website or social media channel, how they experience it, and which touchpoints (contact moments) you can use and deploy for your content calendar. A customer journey is always created on the basis of a persona. This is a sample profile of a potential customer. A customer journey provides insights into how and when to best reach your target audience.

Google Analytics

We have also dealt extensively with channel analysis, but this can only be dealt with after you have first properly identified your target audience(s). This does not mean that we should focus on this analysis. No, on the contrary, statistics will help entrepreneurs move forward!

On the last evening, our online marketing guru Senad showed participants how to use the Google Analytics dashboard. He showed which statistics and data you can extract from Google Analytics and how you can gain more insight into the online behavior of your target group(s). Senad also inspired the participants with what else is possible within Google Analytics, such as handy tools.

Good luck!

We experienced it as enormously successful! The involvement, attention and all the positive efforts of the participants energized us tremendously. All participating entrepreneurs* Thank you very much, we enjoyed the sessions, the beautiful conversations and warm contacts that were made!
