Unique meeting pods

Due to strong growth at AlienTrick over the past few years, an internal move was once again necessary. We needed to convert two large meeting rooms into workstations, which meant that new meeting rooms had to be created. Inquiring about meeting pods and already having some ideas of my own, I appended former classmate Marko Matic, who is now a renowned architect at IAA Architects. His response? "Cool, but we also want to unleash our creativity on this." Soon they came up with an even more unique option: meeting pods based on a parametric design, perfectly fitting into our transparent and open building. A secure place with distinct use of color, patterns and structures. I was immediately sold by the vision presented by Marko Matic, Frank te Grotenhuis and Stef Hoeijmakers.

Having the experience with this ambitious project, we too can agree that co-creation is certainly not just a trendy term. The collaboration with IAA Architects and KP Interieur went flawlessly. IAA Architects used a parametric design methodology in this experimental design process, which gave us control throughout the process in the look and feel and primary function of the meeting pods. KP Interiors came up with appropriate solutions every time during the set-up of the object, without having to make any concessions to the initial concept.

In short: co-creation pur sang! All in all, I think the end result is a confirmation of what AlienTrick stands for: strategy, creativity and technology.

The pods were built of birch plywood, computer-milled parts on which letters and numbers were written. These numbers and letters belonged to certain groups, so the pods could be assembled exactly the right way. The four pods were equipped with displays. The pods were also linked to our calendars using a reservation system.

The formal meeting spaces were already available with us, but precisely the somewhat informal spaces were missing. The iconic and functional object that now stands fully meets this need. And the result is definitely worth it! I am very proud that these four unique pods can be found in our building and can certainly be seen from far outside.
