Innovation with impact: sustainable business at AlienTrick for a better future.
AlienTrick is all about innovation, but we don't forget about the world around us. For us, sustainability and corporate social responsibility (CSR) are not just fancy words, but concrete steps we take every day. We not only want to help our customers and partners move forward, but also contribute to a more sustainable future. To this end, we take initiatives to reduce our ecological footprint and actively contribute to society.

Energy-efficient workplace
One of the first things you'll notice at our office is the focus on energy consumption. We have smart meeting pods, where screens are configured to use as little energy as possible. And the great thing is: when no one is in the pod, they automatically turn off. This principle also applies to the computer screens in our office, so no energy is wasted when they are not in use. In addition, all older screens have been replaced with new energy-efficient screens throughout the building.

We also use e-ink displays to clearly show who has reserved which meeting room. These displays are located at the meeting rooms, consume power only when updating the information. So when the visual is loaded on it, the display consumes no power.
We are certainly no strangers to smart displays, working for Philips Professional Display Solutions, we developed the campaign for the Philips Tableaux. Find out how we created an effective campaign for this durable and engaging product: Size up with Philips Tableaux.
In addition, we have fitted all electrical appliances, such as the coffee maker, our videowall and all screens with timers that automatically turn off at the end of the working day. This way we ensure that no unnecessary energy is wasted, especially when we are not at work and no one can still enjoy a delicious cup of coffee.
We strive to do as much as possible in-house. For example, we have our own studio and will have a second studio built in late 2024. By keeping much in-house, we eliminate the need to travel with and for different materials or external locations, which helps reduce our carbon footprint.

Continuous improvement
To monitor our progress in energy consumption and carry it more widely within the organization, we organize an internal update every six months. We use this moment, in addition to management information, to reflect on our energy consumption and the goal we have set to become more efficient every year. We strive to continuously reduce our consumption without compromising on comfort or the quality of our work.

Smart lighting and solar panels
We have a total of no less than 205 solar panels; these contribute substantially to reducing our CO2 emissions. This is just one of the ways in which we aim to cover our energy needs in an increasingly sustainable way. We also took an important step in 2023 by replacing all lighting in our office with energy-efficient LED lighting. This has not only led to a 60% reduction in energy consumption, but also improved our energy label from A+ to A++. A great achievement, but we certainly don't stop here. We continue to look for opportunities to improve, saving energy every year where possible.

Volunteer
Sustainability is not only about energy and resources, but also about social responsibility. This is why we are committed through volunteering and supporting local initiatives. Our co-founder Raymond has been actively involved in the SCH (Stichting Centrummanagement Hengelo) since 2016 and serves on the board of the MAC. He also serves on several boards and often fulfills the role of advisor in various local organizations. Arne, our other founder, is on the board of Bedrijventerrein Oosterveld. Thus, he helps in the cooperative that takes care of the quality of the business park. This team is responsible not only for security, but also for green space management, which contributes to the appearance of the area.
Local involvement and knowledge sharing
We also sponsor several events in Hengelo each year, such as the skating rink during Winters Hengelo in the fall, the BAM Festival in the spring and the Heng Loose festival and beach volleyball court downtown in the summer. This gives us the opportunity to support the community and stay involved in local events.
Furthermore, we believe it is important to share knowledge and experience with the region and support the future of our field. We regularly organize knowledge sessions for regional entrepreneurs, such as The Smart Course, in which we share insights and practical knowledge. We also find it important to transfer our expertise to the next generation of professionals. We do this, for example, by providing expert sessions at Saxion and by regularly offering internships for students. In this way we contribute to the growth and development of both the region and the young talents of tomorrow.
A healthy work culture
At AlienTrick , the focus is not only on environmentally friendly and ethical business practices, but also on the well-being of our employees. Job satisfaction plays an essential role in this, as it contributes to a healthy work culture and a motivated, productive work environment. We believe it is important that employees feel valued and supported, which increases their job satisfaction. For example, we have paid attention to National Vitality Day for years, in 2016 we achieved second place in the province of Overijssel in the election Het Vitaalste Bedrijf van Nederland (The Most Vital Company in the Netherlands), and that same year we also came second in the election of Twente's Fittest Company. In 2024, work happiness took center stage during our annual AlienTrickDay, which often focuses on job satisfaction.
We also believe that promoting equal rights and inclusion is an important corporate social responsibility. That is why we raise the flag annually on Coming Out Day to raise awareness and support LGBTQ+ community initiatives. We are committed to an inclusive workplace, where discrimination in any form is not tolerated, and where equal treatment for all is promoted.

Always looking for sustainability
Although we have already achieved a great deal, our work is far from finished. We continue to look for new ways to reduce our environmental impact and bring about positive change, currently focusing on separating waste more sustainably. Sustainability is deeply rooted in our business philosophy and we will continue to invest in both technology and human capital to achieve our goals.
At AlienTrick , we believe that small steps can bring big changes. Because together, we are creating the future.
