At PPDS (Philips Professional Display Solutions), they help they help you bring the digital to life. They are part of the world's largest display manufacturer, TPV Technology, and are proud of the exclusive worldwide rights to bring digital signage, LED screens, professional TVs and Philips-branded monitors to life. Moreover, they also bring this together with complementary hardware and software to build global solutions.
We are proud of a long-standing fine cooperation with PPDS and for the Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) 2023 exhibition in Barcelona, we were asked to create no less than 14 English-language videos to showcase various applications. The purpose of the videos was to inform and introduce the booth visitors to the fair with the products and solutions. We were also asked to create the videos in such a way that they could also be used after the trade show.
From concept to production
In a span of 2 months, we picked up the process from briefing: concepting, scripts, storyboards and full production. We picked this all up for the following products and solutions:
- 4 Philips product videos: High Brightness Transparent LED, Tableaux, Q-Series EcoDesign & D-Modularity;
- 5 PPDS product videos: Wave Controller, Wave ProStore, Wave Creator, Power of Android Flexibility and Power of Android Security;
- 2 showcase videos: Power Consumption and Control Room;
- and 3 Corporate Social Responsibility videos: Generic, Social Responsibility and Packaging & Transportation.
Use of different techniques
The creative process started with determining where the focus is in the concept. We then determined the sequence of features and translated this into story telling scripts. To help the client better understand our vision, we also turned these scripts into storyboards. The client then also gets to see visual sketches of all the scenes in the videos.
After approval, we could start working on the first versions including music: the animatics. In this version, the scenes took shape and the timing became clearer. In the next step, the motion designers really got to work, because in this step the scenes were fully developed!
Various techniques are used to create the scenes. From full 3D to composite work in stock images and a combination of 3D and stock footage. For the product videos, we made sure that the 3D model was optimized, textured and possibly rigged for animation. We created full 3D scenes in which we highlighted specific features on the product and then transitioned with a cool transition to the product in an animated stock image. Other videos were again built entirely in After Effects, a software for moving images and visual effects.

Barca, here we come!
After a period of hard work, we delivered all videos on time and as desired to a very satisfied client. As proud peacocks we were therefore allowed to join the PPDS family to witness the result on location at the beginning of February. Yep, we got to see the videos shine at the ISE'23 trade show in Barcelona!
The booth looked great and the Tableaux product even won an award. Upon returning home, we also translated all the videos into French, German, Spanish and Italian so that they could be used more widely. After this complete completion, we look back on a good and successful collaboration, and look forward to creating the same for 2024!
