In early October, Rosen was at the International Pipeline Conference in Calgary, Canada. Rosen wanted to stand out among the other booths at this show.
We were asked to put down a concept where this would be the case. And also, the Rosen tools needed to be better known. We found the solution in a digital host in the form of a 3D robot containing all the Rosen tools.
Robot
After a brainstorming session together with Rosen, the concept of a digital host in the form of a robot emerged.
The robot has the function of host and guides, triggers and animates the visitors on the exhibition floor. Before the already existing robot could be used, we recreated it as a 3D model.
We then used Microsoft Kinect to record the movements, some 19 scripts, to animate the 3D robot and then generate movies from it. This together with a good voice-over soon produced a great result, a digital host talking to you. To make the robot interactive, we developed software, also based on Microsoft Kinect. The software detects if and where a person is in the picture. The Rosen robot responds by, among other things, asking to come closer, entertaining someone with a breakdance or waving someone off when he or she walks away.
For the installation of this project, we specially traveled to Calgary, Canada to realize the installation and to experience for ourselves how the whole thing works during the exhibition.
